Welcome to Sweden Makes Music 2018!
The newest stars of Swedish pop take the stage at Baby's All Right in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on December 4, with live performances by Cherrie, Vacation Forever, Bella Boo, and ViVii.
Cherrie
R&B star Cherrie has quickly become a household name in both Sweden and abroad and has since her 2016 debut Sherihan proven to be one of the country’s most promising artists. With stellar production and confident songwriting, Cherrie manages time and again to give emotional weight to her trap-influenced hits. Few artists with lyrics in Swedish have toured with Stormzy and made a remix with Kehlani, been featured in The Fader and have Rihanna as a fan. Cherrie, however, is one of them. This year’s sophomore album Araweelo further cemented her position as one of the leading voices of Swedish R&B today.

ViVii
As with many great stories, the story of ViVii started with love. After the birth of their child, Caroline and Emil Jonsson, together with guitarist Anders Eckeborn, decided to devote their lives to love and music. Their debut EP Savant ripples with euphoric and sunny pop gems that cast light on the darkness around. An ABBA for the modern world of dream pop. The band has been praised by Earmilk, The Clash Magazine and The Line of Best Fit, with their latest single ”Suckerpunch” reaching #1 on HypeMachine and getting played by Guy Garvey of Elbow on his BBC radio show.

Vacation Forever
Vacation Forever attempts to live up to his name – and with his dreamy, synth-driven music self-described as tropical emo, Zacharias Zachrisson has created a brand new paradise for himself. With melodies and atmospheres reminiscent of Deerhunter and MGMT, Vacation Forever debuted this year as a welcome new voice on the Swedish indie scene. The success so far culminated in a praised EP and opening for sister Lykke Li at several European shows this fall.

Bella Boo
The label Studio Barnhus has given rise to some of Sweden’s most exciting and innovative electronic producers and DJs today. Next in line is Bella Boo, whose contribution to the Studio Barnhus compilation is a mix of chill tracks for the club and downtempo beats for the daytime. This year’s EP Fire has caught the attention of Resident Advisor and Pitchfork, with Bella Boo making her rounds through Europe’s most prestigious clubs.
